Legal experts say a 5th Circuit decision to uphold part of a Texas law regulating adult entertainment websites conflicts with U.S. Supreme Court precedent regarding minors’ access to obscene material online.
While some may consider this a way to protect those under eighteen – we see it as a wider trend of the US government trying to censor and track online habits.

Last year our reporter, Graham C, reached out to many involved in the legislation process. Seeking answers, Graham C was unable to find anyone with a clear idea of this law back in September. Over 10 state officials were asked but were unable to provide clear guidance on how this would take shape.
Due to the poor implementation, we now see how badly this is being rolled out. We imagine the first Texans knew about this ban was when they were attempting a little bit of self-care.

One item of concern (among many) is that the very verification companies set to profit already have a history of donating to those that get them into that very position.
There have been multiple bribery scandals and controversies around those pushing for these verification checks.

Windscribe, as you might guess by now, is committed to promoting freedom of information and expression worldwide.

Our relief codes are designed to help people in war-torn and oppressive areas, where private and secure access to information and communication channels is under genuine and immediate threat. Some people, however, see fit to abuse these codes despite not being from the affected region or involved in the conflict and seek to make a quick buck by reselling accounts.
